Young Sabbir Rahman rose to prominence with an unbeaten 18 ball 33 against Afghanistan in the Gold medal match of the 2010 Asian Games. Prior to that he had already made a name for himself in the Dhaka club cricket scene with his leg spin bowling and had a string of solid performances in the 2010 U-19 World Cup.
In 2014 he made his debut for the national team in the shortest format and was a part of the Bangladesh squad the 2014 T20 World Cup. He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe later that year and smashed 44 of 25 balls in his very first game. His promising start in limited overs cricket, earned him a place in the national team for the 2015 World Cup. Apart from being a big hitting batsman who can ball handy leg breaks, the Rajsahi native is also an exceptional fielder.
