Prior to that he had already made a name for himself in the Dhaka club cricket scene with his leg spin bowling and had a string of solid performances in the 2010 U-19 World Cup. In 2014 he made his debut for the national team in the shortest format and was a part of the Bangladesh squad the 2014 T20 World Cup. He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe later that year and smashed 44 of 25 balls in his very first game.
