Piyush Chawla made his mark in Indian Cricket when he bowled the legendary Sachin Tendulkar during a Challenger Trophy game in 2005. Incidentally, he became the youngest Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to play in Test for India when he was picked for the home series against England in 2006. He continued to impress the Indian selectors and was drafted into the Indian squad which won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. Piyush was also a part of the historic Indian team which won the ICC World Cup in 2011.
Piyush has been sought after by English County teams after his superb spell with Sussex in 2009 and Somerset in 2013. His successful run earned him a place with Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and he continued to feature for them till 2013. He was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and had a magical debut season with the franchise as he hit the Championship winning ‘Six’ to clinch the 2014 IPL Championship.
2015 had been a great year for Piyush, not only did he have a very good domestic season with the Uttar Pradesh Ranji team but also became the fourth bowler to take 100 wickets in the Indian Premier League.
The year 2016 started on a very good note for Piyush as he was successful to take a brilliant hat-trick against Maharashtra in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His contribution with the ball and bat helped UP lift their maiden title in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Baroda.
